The hourly rates for piano teachers can vary widely based on factors such as location, teacher experience, and the student’s grade level. Here is a general guideline for pricing based on piano grade levels:
Beginner Level (Grades 1-2)

One of the most crucial factors in determining your prices is the intended customer base. Depending on how your students view piano lessons, you might charge more or less. Conversely, if they view piano lessons as just one of many after-school activities, you should look at the pricing of other after-school activities and adjust accordingly.
For example, I charge more for lessons than a parent might pay for a dance class because the time with me is one-on-one and therefore more intensive. Most teachers tend to undercharge, but that's only important to parents who are solely considering the cost of the lessons and not the quality.
Remind parents/students that there are many factors involved in good piano training and be ready to be the quality teacher you promote yourself to be. If you're just starting out or unsure of your teaching ability, it is okay to charge a little less as your customers know that you are learning the ropes and developing your own teaching style.
As a traveling teacher, be sure to charge for the time, energy, and effort to travel to the student's home. You cannot teach at the same intensity and quality if you are not at the same location as the student.
