Neyt Preparation Journey: A Rollercoaster of Ups and Downs
Preparing for the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is not an easy journey, especially as a drop-year student. One experiences many ups and downs during this period. In this article, I share my personal NEET preparation story and offer valuable lessons learned.
The NEET Preparation Journey as a Dropper
Like many students preparing for NEET, my journey was anything but smooth. It was a roller coaster ride filled with moments of high energy and periods of deep doubt. The journey can be even more complicated if one is a drop-year student. During those tough times, it's crucial to trust yourself and believe in your capabilities. My own experience in 2021-2022 reflects this, as I took the NEET in 2022 with marks that were lower than expected due to personal challenges. However, with perseverance, one can overcome these setbacks.
The Importance of Mental Health
A healthy mind is essential for a healthy body. During my preparation period, I faced a significant loss when my father passed away due to a cardiac arrest. This personal tragedy plunged me into a deep depression, which affected my test preparation and results. Despite these challenges, I managed to score 573 out of 720 in NEET 2022. This experience reaffirms the need to prioritize mental health during the preparation phase. The phrase "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stand a little taller." holds true, especially in such challenging times.
My NEET Preparation Experience
My NEET preparation journey began in 2021, when I joined a local coaching institute due to the ongoing pandemic. The online classes were initially manageable, but a significant problem was the lack of comprehensive tests. Full-length tests were rarely conducted, leading to a lack of time management skills. When we returned to offline classes, the only full test I took was a concerning one, where I scored poorly. This realization made me aware of the need to improve my speed and accuracy.
After the pandemic situation improved, I joined Allen, a renowned coaching institute, where the tests were more rigorous and challenging than NEET. My scores fluctuated, and I found it challenging to improve. However, I never lost hope and continued to strive for better results. I also had to address a backlog of class XIth material after completing the class XIIth syllabus in October 2023.
As the final mock tests approached, I dedicated almost two tests per week, and I sought to give a mock test almost every day in the last few weeks before NEET. The intensity of this preparation was demanding, but it was worth it. I learned that the performance on the day of the test matters more than the score from previous tests. With hard work and consistent effort, one can achieve their goals.
Advice for Future Aspirants
Future NEET aspirants should never lose their confidence and hope. They must remember the hard work they have put in and keep fighting until they reach their goals. My journey, filled with ups and downs, has taught me more than just the importance of hard work and mental health. It has shown that with perseverance and a strong belief in oneself, success is always within reach.
Conclusion
Preparing for NEET is a challenging but rewarding experience. It's a roller coaster ride with many ups and downs. Trusting oneself, maintaining good mental health, and striving for improvement are essential aspects of this journey. As I reflect on my experience, I hope that sharing my journey will inspire others to pursue their dreams with determination and resilience.
