College Admissions and Satisfaction: NEET 2020 Journey
Every year, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) serves as a pivotal moment for prospective medical students, determining the pathway towards their academic and professional careers. This article delves into the personal journey of one NEET 2020 aspirant, focusing on their college selection, satisfaction, and the challenges they faced in the counseling process.
From SN Medical College to ABVGMC Vidisha
My journey started with the enthusiastic news that I had secured a seat at SN Medical College in Agra. Initially, the infrastructure was quite basic, but over time, significant improvements were made. The college constructed numerous new buildings and introduced modern hostels, enhancing the overall student experience. However, the primary focus for any medical college is academic excellence, which SN Medical College excelled in. This solid academic foundation is what I genuinely appreciate about my college.
Further Allotment and Academics
Lastly, the decision was made that allowed me to allay my fears about my academic journey. In the second round of counseling, I was allotted ABVGMC Vidisha. What draws me to this college is the tranquility of the city, which is surrounded by lush greenery, offering a serene environment conducive to academic pursuits. I have been actively sharing pictures of the college and its surroundings, which has undoubtedly boosted my morale.
AIQ Round 1 and 2 Decisions
In the All India Quota (AIQ) round 1, I received an offer from SSMC Rewa. However, I decided to reject this opportunity as I received another offer from ESIC Alwar in the state counseling round 1. Now, I am eyeing the possibility of securing a seat at ESIC Bangalore or Hyderabad in the AIQ round 2. According to my rank, there is a good chance of achieving this. However, my family is advising me to stay within the state of Rajasthan and opt for the state round 2, as my chances of getting a good college through the state round are slim. My heart and mind are in conflict, with my emotions leaning towards staying close to family and my logic supporting the better educational institutions in major cities.
Final Allotment and Reflections
After the AIQ round 2 results, I stepped into Punjab state counseling and was allotted GMC Patiala, a decision I am content with. Previously, through AIQ counseling, I had been allotted Calcutta National Medical College Kolkata. Many advised me to accept it due to its excellent academic reputation, but considering that I want to settle in Punjab and stay close to my family, I made a choice that aligns with my priorities.
My journey from the NEET 2020 to my final college is a testament to the importance of family support and personal preferences. While the academic environment is crucial, the support system and emotional well-being are equally vital. My advice to fellow medical students is to consider both academic excellence and personal circumstances when making their final decisions.
